Student of the Week:
Eli

Thank you parents for allowing your child to attend the Veteran’s Day program last week.  The children did an excellent job and it was so nice to see all the families in attendance.  A huge thank you to Mrs. Williams as well for putting on a great show!
Math Flashcards
Students will be making multiplication flashcards in class.  Eventually, students are expected to know multiplication facts fluently.  Once students have had plenty of opportunity to understand multiplication and to learn strategies to solve multiplication problems, we will begin to expect students to know multiplication facts from memory.  Please help them practice their flashcards each night.

Check out our blog for a link to the multiplication songs we are singing in class!  These can help your child memorize all the multiples of each number by using music.  Try to say the ABC’s without singing it! :-)
Multicultural Awareness Day

Wednesday we will celebrate some of the different cultures that are in Champaign county in order to learn more about the diverse cultural groups in a community, one of our social studies standards.  The day will consist of adults coming in to share information as well as students presenting.  Your child will be offered foods/snacks on this day, so please be sure we know of any dietary concerns before Wednesday.  A special “thank you” in advance to those who helped in making this day a success.  We are looking forward to Wednesday and we know the students will enjoy it.

Ask a Veteran

Students wrote about questions they would like to ask a veteran. Mr. Miller graciously came in to our room so they could ask him their questions. He served in the U.S Army from 1990-1998. Thank you Mr. Miller for serving our country and our students!

Student of the Week:
Brandon

Thank you Jeff Kizer, owner of Pa’s Produce (Idle Rd.) for giving us a good deal and delivering pumpkins  for our Pumpkin Fun Day.  We had lots of fun. Pictures have been posted to our classroom blog.
Veteran’s Day Program
The students are performing their Veteran’s Day program on Tuesday the 5th at 2:00 pm for the school and again at 7:00 pm for their friends and family. Students need to come to their classroom at 6:30 pm ready to perform. Dress Code for Veteran’s Day program is blue jeans, tennis shoes, and red, white, or blue shirts. If possible, please have your child wear a plain colored shirt with no writing or designs. The children have sounded great at rehearsals and are excited about the performance. Feel free to invite any friends or neighbors that are veterans. This program is truly about honoring them. See you there!
Silent Auction Basket Donations
There will be a mini Relay for Life family fun day here at Graham Elementary on November 9th from 1-3.  Each pod has been asked to donate a basket to enter in the silent auction to help raise money for Relay for Life.  The third grade will be donating a couple different baskets.  Our classroom will be putting together a Holiday Helper basket.  If you would like to donate an item for this, please send it in by this Friday, November 8th.  Some ideas for this basket include: gift wrap, tape, scissors, bows, tags, gift cards, ribbon, etc.  Get creative and think about your biggest holiday helping items.  If you would like to donate cash, please send it in an envelope clearly labeled “Relay Basket Donation” and one of the teachers will purchase an item to be put in the basket.   We hope to see you at our GES Mini Relay Day on November 9th!
