October 6th-10th, 2014

Learning Targets/Topics Word Study/Spelling: ~ I can spell high frequency words. Reading: ~ I can answer different types of questions about a story, going back to the story to find my answers. ~ I can write a response letter in my reader’s notebook each week to share my thinking. ~ I can proofread my writing so that others can easily understand what I have written. ~ I can tell the main character of a story. ~ I can tell a character's trait with support from the story. ~ I can tell a character's feelings with support from the story. Writing: ~ I can use my writer’s notebook to write ideas for writing (planting seeds to write about later). ~ I can write a rough draft. ~ I can choose poems that “speak to me” and write a response to that poem. Math:   ~ I can estimate sums and differences.   ~ I can use reason to justify my answers.

Important Dates: 10/7: Fall Reading OAA 10/7: Reading Log Due 10/15: Community Blood Drive from 3-8 at GES 10/17: No School: Teacher Inservice 10/22 - 10/29: Book Fair 10/23 & 10/28: Parent Teacher Conferences 10/24: End of 1st 9 weeks grading period 10/27: Beginning of 2nd 9 weeks grading period 10/27:  PTO Meeting @ 7:00 October Lunch Menu Reminders ~Please sign your child’s planner each night. ~ Students enter the classroom at 8:50.  Our tardy bell rings at 9:05.  By 9:05, classroom instruction is already in progress.  Our instructional day ends at 3:30 when students begin getting ready to go home.   ~ The first text reminder went home for my class over the weekend reminding parents about picture day.  To receive reminders from me, please send me a note to get the number to text and message to send.
