Fall Reading OAA
On October 7th, your child will take the Ohio Achievement Assessment in reading. They will not take a math OAA this fall. The Ohio governor and the Department of Education have made this a very important test, by making the 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee a state law. This law states that a child must score at least a 394 on either the fall OR spring reading OAA in order to advance to 4th grade without restrictions. Children that do not earn this score will receive additional reading instruction next school year, as well as other things.
Please make sure your child comes to school on time and has had a healthy breakfast. Coming to school ready to learn is a tremendous help! If you would like to see what this test will look like, go to this website:

We will be sending home additional information about this test soon. Thanks!

Entertainment Book Fundraiser
Your child brought home an Entertainment Book last week. This is fundraiser sponsored by our PTO. Please consider selling these books to help raise funds for our school. Our PTO receives 50% of the price of each book that is sold and your child can receive many exciting prizes. The PTO is planning on using these funds for various things, including playground upgrades and technology. Please remember to return the unsold Entertainment Books or payment for the sold book as soon as possible.
Math Test Wednesday
Students will be bringing home their math books Monday and Tuesday night to complete their homework. Please help your child with this so they can be prepared for their test on Wednesday. If you notice your child struggling with a specific topic, please write Mrs. Parke a note so she can help them.

Reading Logs Were Due Today
Our first weekly reading log was due today.   Some students did not have 75 minutes or their reading log was not signed.  Because this was the first one and because we didn’t have school yesterday to be reminded, I am allowing them to get it signed or finish reading tonight.  I am sending home this weeks reading log as well.  In the future, unsigned or incomplete reading logs will result in a strike.    We also discussed in class how to complete the reading log, starting a new line for each reading time frame.  Students might have one book listed several times.
